Do you pronounce "Coyote" with two or three syllables? (as in do you add the "ee" as a third syllable?)

I pronounce it the usual way I guess.

Have you ever seen AJ Fosik's work? It reminds me a lot of Coyote.

I've never heard of him, but I took a look on Google and it looks really cool!

Does the court know Coyote's secret?

Yuppo

so, is miss"wandering eye" Jones an eye of coyote that saw reason?

No, she is not.

So based on the most recent pages is it safe to assume that the fire creatures Annie and her mother are descendants of were created by humans (like the little boy in the fire) in the same way Coyote was?

Coyote is implying that all myths like that were created by humans, yes.

Hello Tom, about page 1070, panel three: Are those three heads supposed to showcase a transition of Coyote's face?

No, they are just some of his faces

Hey, does Coyote know about this guy?

What guy?

Next time you're in the mood for creating a wallpaper, could you consider taking the words off the top panel on page#1069? That landscape vista is breathtaking, and the juxtaposition of Coyote is excellent: I'd love to see that enlarged ;-)

Unsure! I'd like to create original pieces for wallpapers.

Someone on the forum said that any power coyote gives to Renard or Ysengrin etc he loses. Supposedly you said this around the time between the second and third treastises. This true?

Yuppo

I love Coyote stories!! I wish we could have had a week or two of stories about Coyote's strength, cleverness, and his hilarious sense of humor. Any chance for one new Coyote story at the end of the chapter? Or has that ship already sailed?

I would like to do more Coyote stories, but some people get very angry if they think I am stalling or padding the comic (even if I'm not), so that kind of thing might be better left for bonus comics in the future.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious is coyote being right now???

we shall see

Coyote once (when we first saw him) swore that no harm will come to Antimony in the forest. Does that mean that even if he wanted to he could not attack her or is a coyote promise not worth much?

Coyote's promises are solid, but how they are interpreted may vary.

What is the function of the string hanging loosely from the Coyote's Tooth's sheath? Is it a harness? If so, how is it meant to be worn - with the sheath hanging at the hip and the harness across the torso (hanging upon the shoulder), or a different way?

It's to secure it to the wearer's leg, if needed, once it is mounted on a belt.

Could we have a t-shirt with the last panel from #1065, please? :) Such a fierce Coyote!

I'd like to do another Coyote shirt.

We shall see

if someone is talking about coyote in another language should they use that language's word for Coyote, or is it supposed to remain untranslated?

He really doesn't care

After rereading chapter 26 and what Coyote tells Annie about the "real" Ysengrin, it occurs to me that perhaps Coyote appreciates him more than we think. Comment?

I agree that this is a comment

She has not met him

Would Coyote fear Zimmy if he met her?

He has not met her

Is Coyote considered a god or is he just a very powerful being?

Coyote is a Native American god, yes.

On the latest page (Chapter 38: Page 11) in the sixth panel it seems coyotes bracelet is gone. Is this on purpose?

Yes it is on purpose

Is that guy Coyote?

nope

Does the blade of Coyote's tooth have much weight, if any? I noticed that it points upwards when it's on the floor, the handle outweighing the rest of it.

It has a decent weight to it. It was angled up in that panel because it was clattering to the floor.

Did Coyote specially pick out the family Annie stayed with in the forest? Or were they just best suited to Annie?

He just picked a well regarded family

Is Coyote absolutely omniscient? Does he know Everything: past, future, thoughts, etc., or is he just very, very wise?

We shall see

Aside from Coyote and Ysengrin, are there any elders or sages who help rule over the forest? Maybe some kind of council beneath Ysengrin?

There are some things like that, yes.

Why was Coyote so concerned with Ysengrin and the people of the Forest learning he had given Annie one of his teeth?

We shall see

Why does Ysengrin favor Coyote so much?

Because he likes power

Are there any other beings of the godlike status of coyote? Will any make an appearance?

Sure.

Can we get a coyote wallpaper soon? I would donate the shit out of that.

Sure, I'll do one soon!

What inspired you to use coyote as opposed to another trickster?

I knew I wanted to use dog-myths, and Coyote seemed like a great one to play with

what's the blade of the coyote tooth sword made of? Does it have an active cutting mechanism like a high frequency vibration or heat based like a lightsaber? Or is it just...really damn sharp?

It's made out of Coyote's tooth, and it's really damn sharp

Is there a reason why Coyote treats Ysengrin so poorly and not Renard?

Yeah, he doesn't like him as much as Renard

Has Coyote ever done something he's truly regretted to this day?

All the time and never!

Is the coyote tooth sword in any way connected to the energy-sword type weapons used by Eglamore and Thorn as Dragonslayers?

We shall have to see

One of the stories about Coyote in Navajo myth has him courting a woman who doesn't want him. He ever get over that?

He remembers and forgets all sorts of things

Hey Tom, congrats on quitting your job! Hope it's going well. Will you create more merchandise? The Topatoco items are ok, but I'd like to buy more kinds of stuff! Giant stuffed Coyote would be amazing. more canvases too, please let me throw money at you

Yeah, I'd like to do all sorts of things like that! Keep an eye on the usual channels and I'll be sure to let people know what I'm doing.

Would Coyote ever authorize a biography? Would he ever appear on Oprah if invited?

He'd only accept a biography if he could be present as it was being written and told, and also he got to say what was in it even if it's true or not

Did Reynardine's ways changed because he can no longer swap bodies or because he is with Annie?

He's more like he used to be, before all the Coyote stuff happened.

Do the others at the court know that Jones is the "Wandering Eye"? Specifically Elgamore and Kat's Parents?

Yeah they know Coyote calls her that sometimes

Exactly how long after the Court was founded did Coyote, Renard and Ysengrin arrive in the Gillitie Wood?

The exact length of time is really not very important.

Could Jones really have taken Annie out of the forest against Coyote's will? The whole time-stopping thing seems to suggest otherwise.

Well we didn't get to see in that situation, becuase Annie interrupted.

Are there any hip and fresh new shirts on the way? I would dig a more flowing, laughing Coyote, or whatever you might be cooking.

Yes! I hope so! I'd like to do another Coyote shirt, and also re-issue the Court Symbol shirt in the proper colours, if people didn't think that was too cheeky.

Would Coyote find Zimmy amusing at all?

We'd have to see!

Could coyote stretch around the whole world and bite his own tail if he wanted to?

You make it sound like he doesn't already do that whenever he has the chance!

How about you make coyote toys that are soft, squishy plushies with hard slinky centers?

I see!

If it's technically his, can Coyote use the star Arcturus like an eye in the sky?

He would say that he could, yes!

Hi Tom, if there's a Coyote plushie, could the body segment be kind of bendy and malleable, like an IKEA snake? I think that would be really fun! :) (But I understand if this is not possible due to suppliers or whatever.)

I don't know yet! I'd like to make something though

Have you ever participated in quests in /tg/? Do you know of Xom? Does his resemblance to Coyote indicate something?

I don't know what a tg is, or a Xom, sorry.

I'd buy a Coyote plush toy.

I hope people would like to!

Tom, if you do end up selling Coyote toys, would you make him a plush toy or would you make him like that slinky dog from Toy Story?

Unsure yet! I don't know if I would go with a plush or a figurine, or what. Hopefully both?

Is Reynard a god like Coyote or is he just his cousin by dint of being a dog based spirit too?

He's not really like Coyote; he's not a god. He is a mythical dog creature though, and this makes him "cousins" with Coyote

Would you ever sell Coyote plush toys?

I'd like to!

Are there a lot of gods like Coyote, or is it just him and a couple of others?

Yeah, there are plenty of them.

If the court staff knows that a god like Coyote is real, how could they be atheists/agnostics?

Because they believe that a powerful creature does not a god make.

Who controls the test that lets animals and fairies become human? Is it something that the Court or Gillitie designed, or is it something else? How much does each side know about it, exactly?

It is usually something Coyote oversees, but he also has others to assist the process.

Do Reynardine and Ysengrin know about Annie and Coyote defacing the moon? Like, has it come up in conversation with them? If they do, what do they think of it?

Yhey they know. They don't really care much though. Renard thinks it's funny

Did Coyote ever meet Fishboy when he was still a fish? What would Coyote think of his current body?

He'd think it was pretty funny

So immigrants to Gillitie Wood always become animals, while immigrants to the Court always become humans. Was this a deliberate choice by Coyote, Ysengrin and Renard, to keep immigrants to the Wood from messing things up?

Not exactly

When designing things like the forest symbol and Coyote, what (if any) kind of research did you do on Native American art? Have you had to do a lot of research while making GC?

I try to look at everything I can related to origin of what I'm trying to design, the theme of it, and any kind of influence I want to put on it.

If i wanted to read more about Coyote where would i look?

You might find some information online, and books about Native American mythology perhaps

Was the Court has a specific end goal in mind, or is it just a place for people to live while they conduct their business and the "man's desire to becomg god!" was Coyote's take on things?

The Court is working towards certain things

Is Coyote's name for Jones "Wandering Eye" a reference or allusion to any sort of mythology? (I.E. Chang'e is a reference to the Chinese Goddess of the Moon) If so what culture?

No, it's a name I made up for the comic. It's not a reference to existing mythology.

Is Coyote's creation of the glass-eyed men something of your own devising, or does it come from the myths about him?

No, that's a real Coyote story. But them becoming shadows was my idea.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but does Chang'e know that Coyote and Annie were responsible for the fingerprint on the moon?

No, not really, but she knows someone down here had something to do with it.

seems like the Court is working towards being able to create human life (Kat trying to make Robot a human/android body) and the Forest trying to make human life (Coyote's scheming with Shadow). is that a deliberate plot thing or coincidence?

That's not really their goal, no.

The idea of Coyote being especially enamored with humans (especially in a place where such a view is unpopular) : is that a typical part of his characterization in North American mythology, or is that something more specific to your incarnation of him?

That's more my idea. I've not read many stories where he particularly likes humans

Do you ever come across a cool bit of mythology (like a story about Coyote or something) that you'd love to play around with but don't think would fit in Gunnerkrigg Court? If so, do you have plans for other projects one day that could incorporate those?

Sure. And I do have lots of ideas for short stories like that which would not fit into Gunnerkrigg. If I did somehow end up working for myself then I would work on them.

Are those pointy things in Shadow's head ears or horns?

Ears, like coyote's ears.

Would Coyote be a member of Team Edward or Team Jacob?

He is not aware of what those things are.

I really hope you do a Coyote plushie; his look in the comic is so marvelously fluid and changing, it would be interesting to see how you'd model him for a doll.

It might end up being a more cartoony version of him, just to make him a bit more plush-like. Maybe I can do a big, fat Coyote and do one of those Squishable things.

Once your Renard plushies are sold out, will you try to get more of them back in store?

I don't think so, no. If I do another plush, it will probably be of Coyote

A while ago I told you about how I introduced my friend to your comic, but instead he opted to read Dr. McNinja. Well, recently he came to my dorm and ranted and raved about how much he loves Coyote. He then introduced it to my boyfriend. NEW FANS 4 U. <3

That's cool

Coyote, Reynardine, and Ysengrin are all canine in nature. Why haven't we seen any felines except for Chang-e's cat (and Kat?)?

Chang-e had a rabbit, not a cat.

Does Coyote do much other than search for his next laugh?

sure, he does stuff

Do shadow men look much different when viewed with psychic powers? Like the way Ysengrin or coyote do?

Not too different, no

Also, how come shadow is back in one piece again, but robot doesn't seem to be?

Shadow was never in any more than one piece. Robot is not in once peice because he was cut in half by Parley, using the Coyote Tooth

Is there a name for the shape/style/form of sword that Coyote's tooth is, or is it something you yourself came up with?

The shape is based on a scimitar

Does the Coyote Tooth float above the ground in the last panel of today's comic, or is that the perspective playing tricks on me?

It's calttering to the floor and a freeze-frame mid-clatter might make something look like it was floating since a picture is not an animated medium.

Did coyote's tooth just hit shadow2?

I know a good way to find out! It's called wait for the next page.

The Kat and City Face inkwash didn't sell? That was probably my favorite piece! Any plans to put that up on eBay like the Coyote canvas?

No, that one sold, this is the one that didnt: http://gunnerkrigg.tumblr.com/post/12849138056/an-ink-wash-of-kat-i-think-im-getting-more

Would Coyote's tooth hurt Coyote?

Not if he didn't want it to

Can you say which items you sold at the convention? Did you sell all of the paintings?

I sold all the stuff except the one inkwash of Kat, and the tall canvas of Coyote with the sun!

Does Coyote ever party down in the forest?

Sure, when he feels like it

A laughing sword is so morbid its cool, but quick question when I think of Coyotes laugh I think of Mark Hamil's Joker is this close to what you had in mind.

It's probably close enough, but I don't know how I'd describe what I imagine for Coyote's laugh or voice

Can Coyote see out of the eye at the hilt of the tooth sword?

Nope

Has Coyote ever tried to swallow his own tail, like Ouroboros?

I'm sure he has. He can do it, too.

Coyote's tooth is fucking awesome. Magical items are rarely done particularly well, but this one is being handled masterfully. Do you plan to have more interesting physical things like this assuming prominence in the foreseeable future?

Yuppers!

Tom, would you consider putting some art pieces up for auction on Ebay? The Thought Bubble pieces are gorgeous! I would fight fiercely for a Coyote piece on Ebay!

Yes! I really want to. I have one tall coyote canvas left, so I want to figure this ebay stuff out.

Was rereading the section where Antimony spoke up before Kat could call her "Annie" in front of bird boy. Quick question: Eglamore calls her Carver, Coyote calls her fire-head girl, and Kat calls her Annie. Is Kat the only one allowed to call her Annie?

Nah

If they don't like each other, why was Ysengrin so upset when he found out that Coyote allowed Renard to be captured by the Court? Does he actually care about Renard(however little) or is it just on general principle of not liking anything the Court does?

He may not like Renard too much, but he still sees him as one of his own.

I know you don't really have a clear defined villain or anything, but I really hope Coyote doesn't end up being a for real villain. I love him as the lovable trickster :( don't play with my heart strings tom siddell

he's a cool guy

Did Coyote really know about Surma's deception or was he just saving face?

Yeah, he knew. He spotted it a mile away

Who do you think is more sinister, Coyote, or Ysengrin?

Coyote

Would it be possible to do some Gunnerkrigg stickers? Gunnerkrigg has quite a few geometric designs that would translate quite well into stickers. I'd love to slap a Court symbol or a Coyote-inspired design on my laptop.

I'd like to do some stickers, yeah. Maybe early next year, through Topatoco?

Seeing that it has been established that Coyote placed the stars in the sky, does that mean that in the Gunerkrigg continuity, the rest of the universe is younger than earth?

Maybe according to Coyote

Coyote vs. god tier Jade: Who would win?

Coyote doesn't even know how to use a computer, so he's never read Homestuck.

Tom, is seems that a lot of your newer merchandise is focused on Coyote, are you making a conscious effort to use him as a mascot for the series, or is it that you just really enjoy drawing him?

Both, I guess. People seem to like him, and whenever I go to a con stuff with Coyote always goes first. I hope to do more merchandise in general, but it won't all be of coyote.

Does Coyote fear anything?

sure

You mentioned tote bags a little while ago - I'd just like to mention that the bag I use to take my notebooks to lectures wore out recently and I would trip over myself to replace it with a black one featuring Coyote!

I would like to do one, just to see how it goes! I'm not sure when I could do one though.

Can Coyote time travel?

He can do many things

Did Coyote (or other mythological beings shown thus far) exist before myths began to be told about him?

It would seem that coyote existed before there were humans to tell stories about him

Can Coyote travel to (or effect something in) other dimensions?

Maybe if he put his mind to it

Coyote's sense of time is very different from humans'. It's like he feels safer assuming little time has past and he understeps his guesses. Does he often wonder if years have gone by when he isn't around others? If people have died while he was sleeping?

He is aware of the passing of time, but he cares little. He doesn't take great pains to keep track.

Which character's talents/abilities would you want to have? Are there plans for a Coyote shirt with him in a more standard comic style? Did Annie feel worse about telling Reynard about Surma's trickery than she did about her attempted revenge on Jack?

I would like to have the takents and abilities of a character that can draw and write really well. If people wanted a shirt with a more normal Coyote on it, I should do one. Yeah, the stuff with Jack wasn't a big deal in comparison.

Re: Coyote looking into A's dream: why a skull? C wanted to startle A; hint at aspect of C not seen before; other? On one hand C seems to embody life—also Forest (#486) vs Court—, on other skull often symbolizes death. Or signif. to be seen later?

It was just Coyote untactfully barging into Annie's dream. Please do not be upset by it, or go out of your way to find hidden meaning in there. There will not be a "That's why I was a skull in your dream!" scene later in the comic.

Is the coyote skull on p. 815 there as a memento mori?

It is Coyote looking into Annie's dream.

You should check out the Walker Papers books by C.E. Murphy. "Coyote" plays a major role as a trickster. It's an urban fantasy/romance set in Seattle, Washington, USA. The author uses Native American and Celtic mythology.

Sounds good

I am extremely tempted to somehow dress my dog as Coyote or Reynardine. What do you think about that?

I think that would be pretty funny.

We've seen at the Court that there are students from other countries, such as Paz. Since it's often more difficult to discern a character's accent in the written word, are there any students (or people) at the Court who are American?

Aside from Coyote (who is not a student at the Court), no.

What would happen if somebody shot Coyote (perhaps while he was distracted juggling his eyes)? Can he even be hurt?

I think it would be very interesting

Do you have plans to make some non-Coyote canvases?

Yep

If a new student who was know nothing about Gillitie Wood were to break court rules and enter it, and Coyote found him before Ysengrin, what would Coyote do?

Probably play a trick on them

I really really like the new Coyote painting! And fyi, my painting teacher always said we should paint around the edges. If the canvas ends up in a frame, it doesn't matter, and if it's not in a frame, it looks better when the picture continues.

That's cool. I thought it was like a no-no area or something. I might do that from now on then.

That new painting of Coyote looks fabulous! I'm curious how you took the picture, though. Do you just happen to have a large empty blue room in your house to levitate painting in?

Well the walls in the room I do my work in are blue, but it isn't large or anything. The painting is levitated by a nail in the wall, used for hanging paintings.

How did Chang'e react to Coyote stealing and filling in for the moon?

It caused a few problems but it's nothing she couldn't handle.

What would happen if Andrew hugged Coyote?

They would probably have a nice hug.

I'm painting a small piggy bank in Coyote's likeness, among others, to be sold for charity. I especially want this one to be accurate. Where can I find good references for his design?

The comic is a good place to start. there aren't really any other pictures of him anywhere else.

How is the Coyote canvas ruined? Looks fine to me!

The eye got messed up

Will the skull be further explained?

It was Coyote. The skull was Coyote.

Does Surma's condition (she dies if she has a child) have any connection to Coyote?

no

What species of animal's skull is that on the current page?

It's a coyote skull

Coyote's gift didn't make Ysengrin weak: his gift was control over trees. Ysengrin made himself weak by creating and wearing the tree armor all the time. Is this it?

Ok

Third, when the players are making characters, which character(s) would you suggest we use as sort of template for how far the normal human can take their abilities. ( I was thinking Eglamore, but the super jumping might be a stretch).

Barring ehteric creatures like Renard and Coyote, there are three types of people I suppose. Normal people like Kat, those that are etherically inclined, like Annie, and people who have their abilities etherically enhanced but with no real etheric ability themselves, like Eglamore.

Was that a coyote skull in the last panel?

Yes

Is Coyote the type to plan ahead or just goes with the flow?

Both

Did Coyote tell Ysengrin to wear that robe/cloak/thing because he didn't like how his tree body looked?

no

So, here's what I think: Ysengrin's body became weak after Coyote gave him his power, so he shaped a tree into a body that he could use to move around properly and stuff. Is this at least somewhat close to what actually happened?

Coyote's gift didn't make his body weak

Did Ysengrin ask for his powers or did Coyote offer them?

Coyote offered them

I mean, how does coyote effect Jeanne and her Lover? http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=775

He divided the Court and the forest

How did Coyote and Ysengrin know Anthony?

Remains to be seen

Did Ysengrin ask for a wood suit in particular, or was it more that Coyote said 'hey I could turn you into a tree!' and Ysengrin thought that sounded like a great idea?

He just has the power to control the trees. The wooden body is his own invention.

How is coyote involved with this page? http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=775

He is the stripe in the middle, dividing the Court and the forest

Did Coyote give Ysengrin his tree power after Reynard received his power?

yes

How many years ago did Ysengrin receive his gift from Coyote?

A few

For that matter, did Ysengrins body become weak immediately after he got Coyote's gift?

Not exactly

Did Ysengrin shaking start immediately after he got his gift from Coyote?

yes

Did Coyote give Ysengrin his tree power after Reynard received his power?

yes

Who was the man Jeanne was in love with, if not Coyote?

The green guy on this page: <a class="nofollow" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=774">http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=774</a>

Does Coyote have the power to mess with psychopomps?

yes

Which of your characters has the worst taste?

Coyote

Was Jeanne in love with Coyote?

No

also pg. 681- did Coyote decide Antimony needed one of his teeth as a weapon because he saw she had been cut by something powerful?

Nah

on page 681, is Coyote just examining Antimony's cut, or is he trying to heal it?

He's just poking at it

Oh Ysengrin, it seems like just yesterday you were using tree arms to try to kill me. Wouldn't most humans be attacked for entering the forest? Is Coyote or Ysengrin behind Annie's personality shift?

Most humans would be attacked if they tried ot enter the forest, yes.

Is Jones on the same power tier as Coyote?

no

Is Surma's death the result of one of Coyote's gifts?

no

Is Surma's and Annie's medium powers the result of a gift from Coyote?

No

Is Coyote's son relevant to the rest of this comic?

no

Is their an ability that Coyote has that he is unable to transfer?

He can do what he likes

Could/will Coyote ever die?

Unknown

Why doesn't Antimony ever go to Jones with her issues with the court (or in this case its staff)? She knows Jones doesn't seem to take sides, and will probably be more simpathetic than Coyote and definitely more simpathetic than Ysengrin.

She doesn't know

Was Coyote sad about his son's death? (I'm assuming he died.)

It's complicated

Longshot question: did you work on Golden Sun? The art style for some of its elements looks familiar to what you've done with your Coyote Stories work.

No I did not work on that game

Did Coyote's son ever really know him?

Yes

Did Coyote's son die?

Yes

Will she really leave the court? Will this cause a major incident (again!)? Will she miss her vacation? Will she sit on the steps and cry it out? Will Coyote provide sanctuary or tell her to leave as he often does? Too many questions! I must know!!!!!!!!

ok

Did Coyote love his son?

yes, as much as Coyote is able

Did Coyote ever put anyone in front of himself?

yes

Did Coyote know about Surma's condition and the cause of her dying too?

remains to be seen

Coyote has smelled Annie's soul or her body?

He smells a lot of things

Does Coyote split his time between the Court and his people in the US?

Not exactly

Before Coyote came, did Renard and Ysengrin only hang out together because there was no one else?

There were plenty of other animals to hang around with before Coyote came

What was Squirrel doing in his tree that grossed Coyote out?

Nothing

Does Annie smell like Surma to Coyote?

yes kinda

You mentioned that Coyote had a son once. Will we ever get to see that in a comic? Will that ever be explained further?

It's not relevant ot the comic, but it might make an interesting short story

Does Coyote care about anyone?

It's complicated

Is there a character that you like drawing the most? If so, who is it?

Annie and Coyote

Is there anything Coyote won't do for a reason other than being bored by it?

He won't do stuff if he doesn't want to

Who do you see as the most popular characters of the comic, excluding Annie?

People seem to like Kat, Zimmy and Coyote. But there seems to be a wide spread of favourites, which I'm happy about

On page 554, is the line behind Anja in panel six the etheric influence of Coyote? Or is it Ysengrin?

It's just the feeling she gets from the "creature"

When Coyote had the possession power, if he went into an owned object, would he be "owned" like Rey is?

No, he's Coyote

You said that Coyote's accent was American, but 'not the one you're thinking of'. Does he speak with a Native American inflection, or is it something else entirely?

maybe

What sort of voice/accent does Coyote have?

It's American. But not the one you're thinking of.

Did Reynardine like humans before he came to the forest with Coyote?

yes

Does the symbol of an eye with a line through it work against any of Coyote's powers, or only Reynardine's?

Only that specific power of Reynardine's

Why did Surma tell Antimony to always try to be polite and appreciative of Coyote's antics?

She didn't

Is Coyote still angry at humanity in general for the treatment of his chosen people (ie, the destruction of their culture)?

I wouldn't call it angry

When Ysengrin sped through the forest in "The Old Dog's Tricks", did he do so under Coyote's direct influence?

indirectly, due to his power given by Coyote

Was fox-Renard's flight ability intrinsic (i.e. not learned from or gifted by Coyote)?

yes

Is there a particular reason Coyote wants Renard back?

Cos they are bros

We know that Coyote can change his appearance at will, to what he finds most pleasing. Is his original form that of a normal looking coyote?

unknown

When Coyote laughed playfully at finding out Surma had a son, saying, "Eglamore, you hound", did Annie experience that weird feeling you have when you realize your mom had other boyfriends before your dad. Or was her dad so distant, she wasn't surprised?

Perhaps

Is Marcia a descendant of dryads stuck at the Court since Coyote split it from the forest?

Nope

Is Reynardine jealous of Coyote's closeness with Annie?

Not really

Why did you decide to make Coyote colorful instead of like a real coyote, the way Ysengrin and Renard (in their given bodies, not the tree-body or plush toy respectively) look like a real wolf/fox?

Because Coyote decides what he wants to look like

Is Coyote scared, or at least wary, of the Court's power?

He is mindful of it

Why hasn't Coyote taken more forceful steps to free Renard?

Remains to be seen

What happened to the Coyote Tooth? Does Annie carry it around with her?

Not always

Is the Coyote Tooth actually that good a blade?

Remains to be seen

Has Annie told anybody about Coyote's gift to her?

Kat and Renard know

Does Coyote ever take breaks from Gillitie and go travel about?

Sometimes

Did normal humans see something different when Coyote moved to the Woods?

Yes pretty much

Would you say that Coyote and Jones represent two different extremes of chaos and order?

Something like that, but Renard didn't like the way Coyote was sometimes

Coyote said the reason Reynard didn't accept powers because he didn't want to be too seperated from his friends. What powers does Rey already have (besides general etheric longevity)

She knows better than to ask such a thing

Was Coyote offering anything specific or just saying "You can have some of my power if you want"?

Yup

How do you apply for the test to change your body? Ask a member of the Court or Coyote? This is "Remains to be seen" stuff isn't it?

Okay

she is pretty damn powerful

has jones met coyote in person?

yes

So if anyone asked Coyote, he'd give them one of his powers? Never thought Coyote to be much of a sharing god.

Will you tell us the reason Ysengrin loves Coyote is it a plot spoiler thingie that people warn me (constantly) about?

Maybe it will be in the story at some point?

Why does Ysengrin love Coyote? They're such different personalities, and I'd have expected Ysengin to be contemptuous of Coyote's silliness.

There is a very specific reason

Considering his violent temper, why does Ysengrin take so much crap from Coyote?

Because he loves him

Right now? A bodyguard for somebody that doesn't need a bodyguard

He doesn't want to cast one

Speaking of Coyote, in his latest appearance, why did he bother disguising himself as a forest elf? It's not like Eglamore didn't know Annie was gonna see him.

Because he wanted to play a little trick on Eglamore.

Another Coyote question- is the form that we see Coyote most often in somehow his most "natural" form? (He IS called 'Coyote' for a reason, I'd imagine). Or is it just the form he's most fond of?

He's comfortable with that form. He's very proud, so long legs, strong back, big snout and pointed ears are what he feels represents him the best.

Does Coyote ever worry/ fear about anything? If yes, can you provide an example?

His definition of "worry" isn't quite the same as everyone elses. It would require a long explanation.

There is a chance, yes.

Does Rey see the world mainly etherically like Coyote and Ysengrin, or more the way the human characters see it? If he sees the physical world, is this something that changed when he left his own body behind?

He sees the physical world, but looking into the ether is no more difficult for him than shifting your focus from foreground objects to background objects.

Will we ever see the time when Coyote split the forest/court?

It is shown on page 491.

If Coyote gives a gift away (like body-taking), can he still use it himself?

No, but he might have different abilities that do something similar.

I can empathise with being misunderstood, accent wise. So, actually question, does Coyote like other mythological trickster figures, or just Rey and Ysen because they're fellow canines?

He likes a few of them, but mainly the dog ones.

So wait, does that mean that when Coyote gives someone an ability, he can no longer use it? He’s actually GIVING it away?

Yes.

Does Annie ever wonder why Coyote calls her fire head girl?

Not really. She figures it's because she has red hair.

When Annie went into the ether during Old Dog’s Tricks and saw Coyote and Ysengrin, is that the way Coyote and Ysengrin see all the time?

Largely, yes.

Would Coyote ever teach Annie to body swap if she asked?

Sure, but Coyote already gave that ability to Renard.

How do you think a conversation between Kat and Coyote would go, if they somehow met?

I think it might be quite interesting.

Is Coyote based on the Native American Coyote? And if so, what will happen when Annie finds out what happened to Coyote when he tried to lay with Porcupine?

She's heard all of the Coyote stories.

Does a person's etheric form always reflect their current state (like Annie's ponytail/clothing)?

Yes, pretty much, unless they have a stronger etherial state (like Coyote and Ysengrin).

While Coyote is close to almighty, there are also other gods that match him, so I guess he can't do anything because, after crossing some line, the others would try to stop him, right? At least that's what I would hope for if I was in your comic.

They might try to stop him if they cared enough about what he was doing.

If Coyote only acts for his own pleasure, I imagine he'd be quite upset if someone ruined his fun. I also imagine that very bad things happen when Coyote is upset.

You have no idea.

Can Annie change the length, width, etc. of the Coyote tooth to suit her needs? If not, would she be able to change it if her aetheric abilities were stronger?

It has not been investigated yet.

How well does Annie understand Coyote's character?

She understands that he is Coyote and all that implies.

You stated that everything Coyote does is only for his own pleasure. Does this mean that when he consoled Annie, it was only so he wouldn't have to see her sad? Or did he have genuine concern for her well-being (a.k.a. love)?

Yeah no reason for Annie to spoil the good times by being sad.

Who would you cast to voice-act a Gunnerkrigg Court animated series? (or) Who would you cast for a Gunnerkrigg Court live-action movie (with awesome CGI Coyote)?

I don't know of many voice actors by name, so I don't know. I would want the actors to have their original accents though. For example, an English voice actress for Annie and a Scottish voice actress for Kat, etc.

When Coyote takes another person’s body to cause trouble, is his main purpose to cause trouble for everyone or to get his victim into trouble?

It depends on how he feels at the time. Generally the bigger the mess, the happier he is.

Coyote thinks that Reynardine cares deeply for Annie (496). Does he think that Rey is nobly protecting the daughter of his lost beloved, or does he think that Reynardine could fall in love with a very similar woman in different circumstances?

Coyote thinks anything is possible.

Were Reynardine and Ysengrim "immortal" before they met Coyote?

Essentially, yes.

I am really sorry to do this, but I was thinking about this question all day, but please, I had just one question about Rey's power that I don't think has been asked yet: could he possess Coyote? If you don't wish to answer this, I understand. I'm just so

No he couldn't, unless Coyote wanted it.

What is meant when Coyote and Reynardine refer to each other as "cousins", seeing as one is ageless (causeless?) while the other is only a few hundred years old? Does Ysengrin share a similar "relation" to them?

They are cousins in the mythological sense. Renard is the european equivalent of the trickster god Coyote. Kind of how the dog is a cousin to the wolf.

Does Coyote ever hang out with Thunderbird?

He used to, sometimes.

You indicated before that Coyote can choose whether or not to feel physical pain. Would there ever be a time when he would choose to feel pain? Unless he has a weirder sense of humor than we thought, I don't think feeling pain would be very amusing.

He does it all the time when he thinks it would be funny. Why have a sense if you're not going to use it? For example when Annie slapped his behind.

What does coyote smell like?

Like the earth and the sky and the leaves on the trees.

If Coyote wanted to, could he take back the ‘gifts’ he’s given to Ysengrin and Reynardine?

Yup.

Why is Rey seemingly not troubled that his body is being preserved by Coyote, if he knows?

Because that isn't the focus of this chapter.

Aren't there Court Scientists who would like to requisition Reynardine as a specimen? May there be something going on behind the scenes with someone keeping Coyote's favorite cousin mostly unharmed while somebody else stares longingly at dissection tools?

No really, no. They aren't interested in that line of research.

Did Coyote know Jeanne before he divided the Court and the Woods? Does he know that the Court did something to her (and if so, does he know what)?

No, he knows nothing about her.

I have a question about Coyote, Ysengrin, and Reynard: Were they once little bitty puppies/kits, or were they always ageless, god-like creatures?

Ysengrin and Renard were once young.

After Renard/Reynardine posessed a human body and went into the court, would his fox body have physically died without Coyote's intervention and care?

Yep. It would have grown old and starved and died.

How come Renard and Ysengrin joined up with Coyote?

They wanted to see what he was up to.

Was Ysengrin happier before he met Coyote?

Not really.

What did rey and ysengrin do before coyote found them? Did they orignally have any powers as gods that coyote did not give them?

They probably just messed around a lot.

Did Renard and Ysengrin know each other before Coyote found them?

Yes.

is there anything Coyote doesn't find funny?

He doesn't like people who try to ruin his fun.

Would Coyote understand if Paz spoke to him in Spanish?

Of course.

Have Coyote and Jones ever had a conversation?

Yes.

Does Coyote want Ysengrin to wear clothes for any reason besides his own amusement?

That was Ysengrin's choice.

Do Reynardine and Ysengrin fear Coyote at all?

Yes.

So far, we've encounter a few cases of a character being devoted to someone who treats them rather thoughtlessly: Gamma to Zimmy, Ysengrin to Coyote, etc. Is this a theme for the comic?

Kind of, yes.

You said a while ago that Reynardine outranked Ysengrin. Why was this the case?

Because Coyote favoured Renard over Ysengrin, and it wasn't a secret.

Can Coyote remotely control the tooth sword he gave Annie? (ie: change it back into a tooth permanently, wield it remotely)

Not really, no.

Do Ysengrin and Coyote have a loose grasp of time and/or human mortality/lifespans? Any of those would explain why they mistook Annie for Surma.

They are both essentially immortal, so time passes differently for them. For Renard as well.

Does Coyote favor Reynardine over Ysengrin? Does Ysengrin think so?

Coyote likes Renard much more than Ysengrin, and Ysengrin knows it.

Ysengrin seems to have much more loyalty and devotion to Coyote while Reynardine does not, how come? Why is he “my lord” to Ysengrin but “foolish cousin” to Rey?

That remains to be seen.

Reynardine and Ysengrin seem very tense around one another when Coyote and Ysengrin came to court, were they ever friends?

They weren't ever really friends, no.

Does Coyote see the concepts of right and wrong in the same way most well functioning humans do? Would you say he is a moral character (by our standards)? Would he lie, cheat or hurt someone if he saw amusement in it?

He would do all of the above if it so pleased him. He understands what is right and wrong, but only far enough to get enjoyment from not acting correctly.

Is part of Coyote's interest in Annie her confidence around him? If she'd been dull, or grovelled, would he have quickly lost interest (after a prank or two)?

Partly, yes.

Is there a reason that Renard asked for possession instead of shapeshifting as a gift from Coyote, or was it just a hurried choice?

It was a poor choice.

What did Reynardine get out of hanging with Coyote in Gillitie? Was there any reason to stay?

There was a very specific reason, yes.

What did Surma think of Reynardine being in love with her? Did Coyote find it amusing?

Coyote thought it was amusing at first.

So before Coyote appeared Reynardine and Ysengrin were like in the medieval fables, only with humans thrown in as victims and rescuees?

Sort of, yeah.

Do Ysengrin and Coyote normally have trouble telling humans apart, given that they mistook Antimony for her mother?

Not really. Annie just seems a lot like her mom at first.

Does Ysengrin ever resent Coyote?

He would never allow himself to.

Do you think Annie giving Coyote the spankies is the second dumbest thing she has ever done?

Well it turned out pretty well.

How come Renard and Ysengrin were bosses of the forest? You said earlier that they had no powers other than what Coyote granted them.

Because they were there on Coyote's invitation. Nobody would want to mess with his buds.

Will we get to see Reynardine and Ysendrin before they met Coyote?

Nah.

Do other creatures of the forest miss Rey? Miss him for his company and not just because there's nobody sane and "nice" to keep an eye on Coyote and Ysengrinn.

Yeah he left a few friends behind, but since he was always with Coyote and Ysengrin, he was one of the three boss guys.

Does Coyote ever visit back home: ie. in North America?

Sometimes.

I'm mixed Native American/European, and I just want to say you've done an amazing job with Coyote, conjuring up the feeling of the Coyote tales, even if you're not sticking to any particular version.

Thank you.

Did Reynardine want Surma to eventually take the test and become one of the forest folk?

He would have been fine if she hadn't, but he also wouldn't have complained about her becoming, say, a nice vixen. Coyote could have fixed her up with a special deal.

On the subject of theme songs... what do you think about this song for Coyote? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kNYnKUeqMQ

Seems like a nice tune.

When Coyote came for a visit at the court, was that for his own amusement too, rather than a serious meeting as representative of the Forest? Or was it both, in some way?

Ysengrin wanted to go and have his meeting, and Coyote agreed to go along for kicks. It'd been a while since he was last in the Court anyways. He was not disappointed.

Does Coyote only do things for his own amusement?

Hilarious.

"What's wrong with asking "Does Coyote only do things for his own amusement?"" Using "for the lulz" instead of "for his amusement" implies that Coyote is someone who would browse 4chan. You don't need to respond, as this is just a clarification.

Okay.

Does Coyote only do things for his own amusement?

Only.

How old are Reynardine and Coyote?

Coyote doesn't have an age. Reynardine is only a few hundred years old.

Did the dog trees and shadow men wind up in the Court as part of a Coyote scheme, or was the Court responsible?

Coyote was partly responsible when he split the Court. Also there were other factors.

You'll have to pardon my usage of the language of the internet, but would it be accurate to say that Coyote only really does anything 'for the lulz'?

What's wrong with asking "Does Coyote only do things for his own amusement?"

What would happen if Reynardine tried to possess Coyote?

Not much. Coyote wouldn't let him. Or maybe he would for a while if it was a laugh.

But Coyote seems like so much fun? He seems so spontaneous and wild. You'd never know what he's going to do next, and although he might occasionally push you into an uncomfortable situation, doesn't he really have your best interests at heart?

He pretty much only has his own interests at heart.

Does Kat know about the Coyote shortsword yet?

Yep.

Besides guys like Ysengrinn, Mr. Thorn or Diego; are there characters that you think you wouldn't like much if you met them in person, but that are important to how you have planned your stories?

I bet I wouldn't like coyote much.

Is there a reason Coyote, being a god, doesn't just will the court out of existence?

Plenty of reasons, yes.

How does Egalamore not notice Annie carrying a Coyote-looking shortsword?

Because it's just a little tooth and Annie put it in her pocket.

How do you imagine Coyote talking (for example, high-pitched, really fast)?

Kind of insane and always on the verge of laughing. Probably not really able to keep from shouting either.

Ok, if the rock that Coyote used to replace his tooth has to stay a rock if he removes it, does that mean that Coyote stuffed a knife into his mouth to replace a tooth earlier?

Nope. It was one of his teeth. The blade is still his tooth.

Is every mystery in the comic connected, or do some of them operate independently? Like, maybe the story of Zimmy and Gamma has nothing to do with Coyote and the Forest.

Some parts are connected, and some aren't.

When Coyote was telling Annie that Reynardine killed a man, you said, "No you don't know who the man is yet." Did you mean we haven't met him yet? Or just that if we have, we don't know it?

I mean that he has not been introduced, involved in the comic at all or mentioned, seen or anything anywhere in the story or the comic or outside the comic at all ever. It is impossible to even guess who he is. It's a character that has not been introduced.

Coyote is a super naughty trickster, should I feel guilty for thinking he is the coolest thing since sliced bread? (He is SO funny and you draw him so pretty.)

Nah, people sometimes like guys who are jerks.

Can Coyote read, or does he not really care much for it? Also, same question but with Ysengrin.

Coyote can understand something without reading it. Ysengrin can't read. Not human text anyway.

From chapter 26, if coyote pulled out that same tooth again, would it still be a rock, or something else?

It would turn back into a rock.

how much of what coyote does is a lie or a trick for his own amusement? did he really mistake Annie for Surma, did he really think Eglamore was her dad?

Yeah he got her confused. Coyote may be powerful, but he was never too smart.

Will Zimmy and Coyote ever meet?

That remains to be seen.

It's been revealed that Coyote probably wouldn't know what Jones is. But would he know what's wrong with Zimmy?

Yeah, he would.

In Chapter 14, page 28, why does Coyote call Annie "Abalone"?

Because he is mispronouncing her name.

Can the shadow men take control of something by themselves, or does it need to be set up by someone like Coyote? Also, do forest trees have to be involved?

The shadow men can control certain things on their own and I'm hoping to explore that later in the story.

Who is more powerful, Coyote or Jones?

Coyote.

Is Annie afraid (not cautious, afraid) of Coyote or Reynardine? She's prob'ly pretty scared of Ysengrin; he's big and scary and grumpy.

She is cautious of Coyote, but she has grown accustomed to Reynardine.

Antimony seems to have a harder time forming relationships with other people (like the standoffishness of other students in Residential), yet it seems she has caught the fancy of several beings (Rey, Mort, Coyote, and Kat). What draws the latter to her?

Etheric beings are drawn towards her because of her inate ability. Kat just thinks she's really nice.

One of Annie's necklaces is Coyote's tooth, one of them is the symbol for "antimony" her mother gave her... but what is the third one?

The blinker stone.

The bit about Coyote's tooth/knife reminded me a bit of MS Paint Adventures-- specifically the "Object Duality" that went on in Problem Sleuth. Was this parallel intentional?

Nope.

I’ve noticed that Coyote/Forest chapters tend to be six chapters apart. Do you do this on purpose?

Nope.

What kind of accent does Coyote have?

A weird one.

Is the sky symbol from the forest's side made with a green blinker stone? If so, do they come in any other colours?

No, they make it themselves. Usually Coyote or Ysengrin produces it.

What would Coyote think of Antimony teaching Renard to pick locks?

He would think it was pretty funny, but kind of unnecessary.

How much of what Coyote tells Annie makes it back to other characters? It seems like there's some stuff that Annie would tell Kat but not Reynardine, Eglamore or Jones. For example, does Rey know about his body?

She talks in general with Kat and Reynardine, but she doesn't usually talk about stuff with the adults.

I don't really get what the seed bismuth is supposed to be. There was the forest, and the manmade Court, which Coyote separated with the Annan Waters. Where did the seed bismuth come in?

That remains to be seen.

Why doesn't Ysengrin ask Coyote to fix his ear?

It's not his place to ask.

Do Reynardine and Ysengrin have any special qualities besides speech, intelligent though, longevity, and the powers Coyote gave them?

Aside from basic manipulation of the ether, not really no. Reynardine can do his shape changing thing though.

Does Coyote make a habit of giving young girls deadly weapons?

Not really no.

Annie looked like she had a third necklace in the bonus page, is it Coyote's tooth?

Yup.

Is it even possible for Coyote to be angry?

Oh yes.

Did Red and Blue see a Psychopomp after becoming wolf snacks, or did instantly wake up in their new forms somewhere else? And who supplies the human bodies for this transfer, The Court or Coyote?

That remains to be seen.

And now for two questions of little consequence. (1) Do you like the pokemans? Even fleetingly? (2) Will Coyote ever use the Elfsberry form again? I love that form far too much. - McBearson

I used to love Pokemon. I could name all 151 of them from the original series. That was a long time ago.<br /> Probably won't be seeing Jolly Elfsberry again.

Why can't Reynardine see the cut on Annie's face if both Coyote and Zimmy can see it?

Zimmy can't see it al the time.

Can the coyote teeth become any type of blade, or just the one we saw it as?

Just the one that we saw in that panel, though its properties haven't been explored yet.

Would something bad happen if Zimmy met Coyote?

Maybe if Coyote wanted something bad to happen.

Reynardine can act cool and be a wordy wise-ass but he is very juvenile in many ways. And he can be raunchy (and funny). He is old, but is he an "adult" by human standards or does being a magical creature mean he can not be defined that way?

I think it might be difficult to define an ageless being in terms of "adult" and "child". In the case of creatures like Coyote or Reynardine, I see them as beings that have been around long enough to realise they don't have to act according to people's perceptions all the time, if that makes any sense.

Why did Reynardine not notice/mention Annie's cut on her cheek? It is visible in the ether, so it seems natural he would see and mention it as the magnificent lord Coyote did.

He can't see it.

Is there anything Coyote doesn't like?

Boring stuff, mostly.

What did Coyote think of Anthony?

Indifference.

What does the coyote knife look like in etherium?

It hasn't been shown yet.

You said there are other people as powerful as Coyote- do you plan on using other mythological figures in important roles, or just smaller ones, eg: the psychopomps. Will we see Raven?

If the story calls for it.

How does Coyote get along with Loki and Anansi?

About as well as Coyote gets along with anyone.

What was Anthony's reaction to meeting Coyote?

Indifference.

Has Anthony ever met Coyote?

Briefly.

Is there anyone as powerful as Coyote? Have they ever met or perhaps even butted heads?

There are other beings on the same level as Coyote. I'm sure he's run into a few of them.

Did Coyote ever give Surma a gift? Would you accept a gift from him?

No and yes.

Does Coyote see awesome flames when he looks at Annie's head?

Kinda.

Where does the inspiration for Coyote's physical appareance come from ? I find it fascinating, really beautiful.

Partly from the few pictures I'd seen during research and my own design.

Does Reynardine have a secret plan or objective right now, besides keeping an eye open for whatever Coyote does next or playing noble guardian? Unless he is a good actor he seems like a trickless trickster.

The plot certainly does involve things happening.

If you met Coyote in a dark alley in a seedier part of town, and he was smiling like someone on happy pills, what would you do?

I'd say Hello Coyote.

Which character(s) are the most entertaining for you to write for?

Coyote is always fun to write.

Could Coyote turn his eye into a shield?

He could probably turn anything into a shield.

Could Coyote have simply turned a rock into a...blade for Antimony? Also, is it a knife or a short sword?

He could have turned anything into a blade, but he wanted to give her his tooth. It's a shortsword.

Is that the actual blade of the knife that looks like Coyote's head, or just an elaborately decorated scabbard?

The blade is in the scabbard.

As several figures from other religions/mythologies like Muut and Coyote appear in GKC, does this mean that other figures in other religions, like Christianity or Hinduism appear? Or is such fact essential to plot?

If it would add to the story and I think it's necessary, it could happen.

If Coyote can just turn into anything he wants (like Jolly) then why does he bother possessing bodies?

Because sometimes he wants to mess with other people's stuff.

Would you accept a toffee-covered tooth from Coyote?

Yes.

Would you accept a gift from Coyote?

Depends what it was.

The depiction of Coyote in the ethereal was awsome, "omnipresent" and look like him at them same time, great work! :) Since he is everywhere on glitie.. when he goes to the court, that is just a physical "extension", his 'Spirit' never leaves the wood?

He can go where he likes in any form.

Hello Mr Siddell. In Chapter 26, when Coyote asks Annie to call her blinker stone it flashes really brightly. I havent seen that happen before. Why did it occur???

Because the light made by Coyote, the forest and Ysengrin were too much for Annie to look at right away.

Is there a real Jolly Elfsberry in the forest or was he completely made up by Coyote?

Coyote made him up. He thought to himself "I'd like to make a body that appeared to be a jolly elf!"

Where did this law come from that Reynardine has to obey the person who owns his body? I doubt Coyote would have to follow such a law.

That also remains to be seen.

Does Coyote have any big regrets?

What would be the fun in that?

Is Annie a pacifist? I can't really imagine her using Coyote's Tooth any differently than a swiss army knife. In which case, an actual swiss army knife might be more useful.

She's not really old enough to decide if she is a pacifist or not. She would floor you if you made her, though.

Thanks so much for creating such lovely work! I think your characters are all brilliant, but I especially love coyote. How do he and Jones get along?

That remains to be seen, I'm afraid.

do coyote and muut still play poker on occasion?

Not after last time.

Coyote once mentioned Muut's excellent poker face. I have to wonder, what were the stakes in their game?

It was just a casual game. All Coyote's idea. Muut was a little busy at the time.

Is Coyote as smart and clever as he thinks he is?

If he is, he doesn't know it.

Can Coyote feel physical pain? He didn't even wince when pulling out that tooth! Or is his physical form just an illusion?

He can feel physical pain if he so chooses.

Is Coyote looking at the reader on purpose?

Sometimes.

Having Coyote given Annie such a gift, does she has a debt with Coyote now, even tough she might not have realized? It would seem something that Coyote would do... or maybe not!

That definitely remains to be seen.

Is Annie gonna get knife-fighting lessons from the BAD KIDS?

Kids worse than Coyote?

Was it weird to give Coyote human hands? (in the most recent update)

Nope, Coyote doesn't really take much pain to stick to one solid shape.

Are Ysengrin and Reynardine so old and longevous as to be considered as "ageless" as Coyote?

No, they are a lot younger than Coyote.

Aside from being awesomely sharp, does the Coyote's Tooth have any... etheric qualities, seeing as its the tooth of Coyote?

It is a sword that can turn into a tooth, for one.

Coyote would probably have a lot of fun on 4chan, don't you think?

He might wonder why a group of annonymous internet people wre relevant in any way.

Do you enjoy doing commissions for the masses when you get the time, and has there been one you've enjoyed in particular?

I do enjoy doing the custom drawings. "Bring The Ruckus" was fun. Anyone who has seen it will know what I am talking about. I also did a picture of Coyote standing on the world which turned out nice.

Has Coyote -ever- had one of his plans come perfectly to fruition? It seems like he'd be the sort to perpetually have plans backfire on him...

The best thing about Coyote is that plans that go horribly wrong are also extremely pleasing to him.

Are there any limitations to Coyote's stretchiness or could he theoretically stretch himself enough to wrap around the planet?

More than just the planet, I'd wager.

So, do you have a plot planned out postghost/coyote?

Huh?

For some reason or other, I've always imagined Coyote as having a Spanish accent. What's your impression of his voice?

I think he would sound a little crazy, but also quite smooth and musical when he's not too excited.

2. Having such a powerful character as, in any piece of fiction, gives the impression that everything that happens is either part of his scheme or simply allowed by him and gnerally conditional to his wishes. Is this true here?

You have to remember that Coyote's schemes don't always work out as he plans.

This is a two part question: 1. You mentioned about Coyote that if he was interested he could probably do just about anything INCLUDING curing Surma. Is this a possible plot point in the future?

Curing Surma isn't, because she's dead.

If Muut is a psychopomp for Native Americans, why is he in Britain, and more specifically, the Court, so often?

He appeared in Chapter 8 because a shadow man had died, which was created by Coyote, a native American god. He first met Annie in Good Hope because he had business in the area.

Does Coyote like Reynardine more than he likes Yssengrin? If so, is it because Reynardine is a trickster like Coyote? Is this why Yssengrin hates Reynardine so much?

Coyote likes Reynardine much more than Ysengrin, yes.

What are the limits of Coyote's powers? Could he have cured Surma or brought her back to life if he wanted to?

If he was interested he could probably do just about anything, including cure Surma.

I'm an American reader, so I tend to picture all the characters speaking like Americans. It's kind of jarring to realize they actually speak with British accents. Are there any characters, other than Anja and Gamma, who don't speak in a British accent?

Paz is Spanish. Coyote speaks with a strange accent too, and Ysengrin just sounds angry. Jones doesn't have an accent, Donny sounds Scottish (so does Kat, but not so much). There are quite a few accents.

What gave you the idea for Coyote's shifting gradient-to-neon-red outline? I really like it.

He had to stand out from the dark background of the forest, but also I wanted him to look like he is edged in light, but only at angles that you couldn't quite see.

Ysengrin is very loyal to Coyote despite the way Coyote treats him. Will we ever find out why Ysengrin has so much admiration for someone who is such a bastard? I find it troubling!

Yes there is a specific reason why Ysengrin thinks so highly of Coyote.

Did you deliberately slip Coyote's "eye symbol" into the forest's blinker stone signal?

Yes.

Is Coyote immortal?

As much as any other god.

Do you/did you have much experience with dogs? I ask because you seem to portray Ys/Coyote interactions in a way that reflects how real dogs interact socially. Yet another reason why I enjoy your comic so much!

I love dogs. I used to have two dogs when I lived with my family. My dad has three staffies.

Why doesn't Coyote preserve Ysengrin's body the way he preserves Rey's? Seems awfully rude letting his disciple rot away in his wooden armor.

People are correct in their opinion that Coyote is, quite frankly, a dick.

Why don't Rey and Coyote get along?

They got along fine before Surma came along.

If Muut and Coyote played a game of poker, who'd win?

Coyote would probably try and cheat the situation to win but end up losing by his own design and then claim Muut cheated.

So, if there's Coyote and Odin, are others gods out there too? Including, you know, God?

I would suppose so.

Was Ysengrin ill before Coyote gave him the tree body he uses now, or did living in the tree body make him weaker?

He was normal before.

Do the Protectors of the Court (like Eglamore!) get trained in controlling the etherium like Annie is learning from Coyote?

Only if the job requires it.

With characters like Reynardine and Coyote have furries given you any trouble?

Some people are savagely desperate to see Reynardine have sex with Annie. Willingly or not.

Who inspires you, in terms of plot, style, art, or anything else? Who do you think has influenced your art the most (given how amazingly unique and awesome it is)? Also I would pay major money for a GC t-shirt, esp. a Coyote one.

There are too many inspirations to mention. I try to learn from everything I read/see.

I know that Coyote the Trickster is a Native American legend/myth/God. Do Reynard and Ysengrin belong to the same Pantheon (the names seem to make that unlikely)? If not where are then from? Will other Native American myths be appearing(crow for example)?

They don't belong to Native American myth, but they are loosely based on existing myths.
