When I was in high school I spent 2 years learning cobol and pascal for the tandy radio shack mod. 80 (aka Trash-80). The instructors swore the entire world would be using those by 1990. Any similar experiences?

The guy who taught my class on websites and Internet said we should never use graphics on our webpages and that images (especially moving ones) would be eventually phased out for text. That wasn't even very long ago.
